Density
of steel :- 7850 kg/m³
Cross
sectional area of steel bars :- (π/4) d²
Where d :- diameter of bar
Note
:- we use diameter of bar in ‘mm’ but the density given in kg/m³ .
So we require to convert the cross sectional area formula according to this.
A = (π/4) d² mm² (d is in mm)
=(π/4) d²×(1/10⁶)
=(3.14×d²)/(4×10⁶ )
m²
A = d²/(1.273885×10⁶ ) m² (but ‘d’ is in mm)
Weight
per meter of steel bar =A×density of steel
= (d²×7850)/(1.273885×10⁶) kg/m
=(d²/162.2) kg/m
Example:-
weight
of 25 mm steel bar:-
=(25²/162) kg/m
Weight
of 12 mm steel bar :-
=(12²/162) kg/m
=0.889 kg/m
